Safer Spaces Policy

Lúnasa Cascadia is a safer space. This means that it is intended to be a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment free of oppressive actions, behaviors, and language. Staff, artists, vendors, patrons and guests are asked to consider how their language and behavior impacts others in attendance.

The following guidelines will help Lúnasa Cascadia function as a safer space:

  • Respect everyone’s physical and emotional boundaries.

  • Respect opinions, beliefs, differing states of consciousness, and differing points of view.

  • Explicit verbal consent before touching someone, taking their photo, or crossing other personal boundaries is mandatory.

  • Be responsible for your actions, and be mindful that they may have an affect on others regardless of your original intent.

The following actions or forms of discrimination and abuse will not be tolerated:

  • Racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, religious intolerance, ageism, sizeism, and all other forms of discrimination. Nope. None of it.

  • Cultural appropriation

  • Theft of money or property

  • Physical, verbal, or mental abuse

  • Sexual harassment, inappropriate/unwelcome comments and behaviors

  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior

  • Causing staff members, artists, vendors, or patrons and guests to feel distressed or unsafe

The organizers of Lúnasa Cascadia will not censor artists and performers when previewing material before the event. If individuals in attendance find specific presentations oppressive, the organizers of Lúnasa Cascadia encourage and invite you to approach us immediately as a matter of transparency consistent with a commonsense ‘open-door policy’. We will respect the needs and anonymity, where applicable, of any person who brings an incident to our attention while we address any issues that arise.

Should an incident occur during the event, staff and organizers will be available to hear concerns and attempt to mediate to find a solution that is in the best interests of the community and the event being a safer space. Lúnasa Cascadia reserves the right to ask any attendees who are violating the safer space policy to change or address their unsafe behavior or language. If anyone violating the safer spaces policy is unable to change or address their unsafe behavior or language, they will be asked to forfeit their attendance and leave the property where the event takes place.

TL;DR - If something is fucked up, let us know as soon as possible. <3

Thank you for supporting Lúnasa Cascadia in helping to create and maintain a safe event for us all.
